I know I haven't gotten much posted on what you can do in the Whyville community, but with school this is very hard for me!
There are so many endless possibilities. . . a ton of games to play, making your avatar, making new friends and so much more!
And best of all, it's 100% free to join. So what are you waiting for? Just type Whyville.net into your browser's address bar, and get started! I am a Y-mail Helper (what these people do is help new people by answering questions.) so once you make an account, navigate to the City Records on your destination bar, (located to the left of the screen on the funky orange colored bus) and type in 'Agrl567'. Just click my avatar to send me a message if you need any help!
Just remember to have fun and stay safe. Enjoy your stay!

Customizing your avatar
One of the biggest parts of Whyville is creating your avatar. What this is, is your virtual face. You can make it look exactly like you, or you can make it look like whatever you want! I'm going to show you a few things about it:
As you can see, there are many face parts in this mall! what's not to love!
This is my avatar, on my character Agrl567.
What this right here is called, is Pick Your Nose. Pick Your nose is used once you buy face parts in Akbar's Face Mall. You purchase your face parts with Whyville's virtual currency, called clams.
Here is a screen shot of Akbar's :

Here are some other screen shots I took of me messing around with my face:

Is Whyville.net safe for my child?
Q: I know Whyville.net is not only games, but a chat room as well. Is it safe for my child?
More than ever. With so many safety features, it's probably the best place for your child!
There are so many, let's take a look at a few:
Silence Tool :
If someone is bugging you and saying rude things, you can use the Silence Tool. What this baby does is makes it so you can't see what that person is typing. You ALWAYS have the right to determine what you hear. To use, double click the person's avatar and click silence. If you never want to hear this person again, you click 'Silence Permenant'.
Vaporize Tool:
Alright, so you're REALLY bothered by someone. What do you do? Double click their avatar, and select Vaporize. You cannot see this person, or hear him, and vice versa. So it's like he doesn't even exist! Cool, huh? Also, for the same thing. If you don't want to see him EVER again, click 'Vaporize Permanent'.
For the most serious Whyville Crimes, you can use:
The 911 Report Tool.
This should be treated like 911 in real life, do not abuse it or joke around with it. This tool is for when someone is dangering you and or everyone else in the room. City Workers (people who work for Whyville) will investigate and read the chat logs right away. If something is serious, this person will be punnished immediatly. But if the report is false, the reporter will be penelized.
It is STRICTLY against Whyville's terms to ask for someone's password, home address, phone number, asking to meet them outside of the Whyville world, to pretend like a kid or to swear or use offensive language. If you see someone do so, or are even asked yourself, you should use this tool and report the person right away! To report them, double click their avatar and select 'Report'.
Your child is always safe in Whyville.

How it Began
I remember the day like it was yesterday. . .
I'm seventeen years old now, much older than when I started Whyville. I was merely twelve years old when I started playing. It's only gotten better though, let me tell you!
Being young and into that kind of stuff, I was flipping through a Pop Star! magazine, and I found an ad for Whyville. It looked cool - Cute little cartoons on a cartoon beach! I immediately jumped to the computer, typed Whyville.net into the address bar, and begged my mom to let me join. She checked it out, and said it was okay to join. (Whyville has many safety features, but I will get into that on another post!) I made my account, and jumped in. There was so many things to do, so many places to visit! With two beaches, a food court, and so much more, I couldn't decide where to go! I think that the best part is customizing your avatar. You go to the "Akbar's Face Mall", buy parts for your avatar (not real money of course! You use Whyville's virtual currency, Clams.) Now, there are even more rooms to befriend people and so many more face parts to choose from. I've been on Whyville for almost 5 years now and it's getting better and better. The people are great, the mini games are great -- it's just an amazing web site in all.
Jump in, and comment me with your first experience with Whyville!
